My name is Jalia, and I am a Sierra-Leonean American travel and lifestyle blogger currently based in Atlanta, Georgia. I’ve always felt drawn to the world — its cultures, landscapes, and the countless ways people live and express themselves. I travel because I want to see more of God’s beautiful creation. Adventure has always felt like home to me.
Part of my journey was deeply personal: I became a flight attendant so I could travel back to Sierra Leone and see my father again after nearly a decade apart. Travel, for me, is not just movement — it is connection, healing, and rediscovery.
I graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Media Studies, and storytelling has always been the thread woven through my life. I am the published author of 100 Tips to Becoming Great Children and It All Happens in Middle School, and I continue to tell stories — now through places, culture, and the people I meet along the way. Today, I work as a flight attendant for a major U.S. airline, exploring the world one flight at a time.
Journeys by Jalia is a space meant to inspire and encourage you to explore — whether that means crossing oceans or simply embracing curiosity in your everyday life. I believe that travel doesn’t just show us new places; it shows us new versions of ourselves.
And yes — I bring my entire skincare routine with me everywhere I go. My suitcase may be full, but my spirit stays light.
Welcome to the journey. ✈️🌍
