My name is Jalia, and I am a Sierra-Leonean American travel and lifestyle blogger. I’ve always felt drawn to the detailed parts of this world — curious about subcultures, nature, and the countless ways people live and express themselves. I travel because I want to see more of God’s beautiful creation. Exploration has always felt like self-evolution.
Part of my journey was deeply personal: A big reason I became a flight attendant was so I could travel back to Freetown, Sierra Leone and see the city where my parents are from. Travel, for me, is not just adventure — it is connection, healing, and rediscovery.
I graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Media Studies, and storytelling has always been my outlet in life. I am the published author of 100 Tips to Becoming Great Children and It All Happens in Middle School, and I continue to tell stories — now through places, and the people I meet along the way.
Journeys by Jalia is a space meant to inspire and encourage you to imagine, discover and explore — whether that means traveling to faraway lands or simply embracing curiosity in your everyday life. I believe that travel doesn’t just show us new places; it shows us different versions of ourselves.
